About this tool

Scholarship and scheme portals often want a single PDF of supporting documents in a fixed sequence, say income certificate first, then caste certificate, then the bank passbook, then last year's marksheet. You merge the scans, open the result, and the passbook has landed on page 1. A two-sided form scanned on a phone has the same problem, with page 2 coming before page 1.

This tool shows a card for each page in your PDF, labelled with its original page number. Arrow buttons move a page one place earlier or later; a cross removes it. When the cards are in the order you want, one button saves a new PDF in that sequence.

The reordering is done in your browser with the pdf-lib library. The file is never uploaded, which is the right way to handle a document that bundles your income, caste and bank details together.

How to reorder pages in a PDF

  1. Drop the PDF on the upload box. A card appears for every page, labelled Page 1, Page 2 and so on.
  2. Open the same file in another tab or viewer, because the cards show numbers only, not previews.
  3. Press the left arrow on a card to move that page one place earlier, or the right arrow to move it one place later.
  4. Press the cross on any card to drop that page from the output.
  5. Press Save reordered PDF.
  6. Press Download in the green Ready panel. The file is named after the original with -organized added. Open it and check the sequence.

The controls and what each one does

Every card carries the page's original number, and that label never changes while you work. If you move Page 5 to the first slot, its card still says Page 5. This is deliberate, so that you can always tell which page of the source you are looking at. In the saved file the pages are simply numbered 1 onwards in the new order.

Each arrow press swaps a page with its immediate neighbour. Moving a page from position 8 to position 1 takes seven presses. This keeps the tool predictable on a phone screen but means it suits documents of a dozen or two pages better than a 100 page report.

What the saved file contains

The tool creates a fresh PDF and copies the pages into it in the order of the cards. Each page is copied whole, with its scan image, text and fonts, so quality is unchanged. Document level items such as bookmarks and the title field are not carried into the new file.

There is no undo for a removed card. The original on your device is untouched, so if you drop the wrong page, press Choose a different file and start from the beginning. Pages cannot be duplicated either; each original page appears at most once in the output.

Tips for document bundles

  • Follow the sequence printed in the portal's instructions or the checklist on the application form. Where the form says nothing, put the identity proof first and the item the officer is most likely to look for next, with supporting papers after.
  • Merge first, then organise, then add page numbers if the bundle needs them. Numbering before reordering leaves the numbers out of sequence.
  • Keep a note of which original page number holds which document before you begin, since the cards cannot show you the page content.
  • Encrypted PDFs cannot be opened and show an error. Remove the password in the application that applied it, then try again.

Reordering runs entirely in your browser. The PDF is never uploaded and is cleared from memory when the tab is closed.

Frequently asked questions

›How do I rearrange the pages of a PDF for free?

Choose the PDF here, use the left and right arrows on each page card to move pages into the sequence you want, remove any page with the cross, then press Save reordered PDF and download. There is nothing to install or pay for, and the new file is a normal PDF that any reader opens.

›Can I see a preview of each page while reordering?

No. This tool shows only a card with the original page number for each page. Keep the PDF open in a second tab or in a viewer on your phone, note which page holds which document, and move the cards by number. The labels keep their original numbers even after you move them, so the mapping stays valid.

›Can I move a page straight to the beginning in one click?

Not in one click. Each arrow press moves the page a single place, swapping it with its neighbour, so a page at position 6 needs five presses of the left arrow to reach the top. For a short bundle this takes seconds; for a long report, consider extracting the pages you need and merging them in order instead.

›Can I duplicate a page or add a page from another file?

Neither is possible here. Each original page can appear once in the output, or not at all if you remove it, and the tool works on one file at a time. To combine pages from two PDFs, join them first with Merge PDF, then open the merged file in this tool to put the pages in order.

›I removed a page by mistake, how do I get it back?

Press Choose a different file and select the same PDF again. All the cards come back in the original order and you can redo the changes. The file on your device was never modified, so nothing is lost; only the arrangement you had built in the tool is reset.

›In what order should I arrange documents for a scholarship upload?

Use the order given in the portal's document list or guidelines, since verification staff check against that list. Many state scholarship portals and the National Scholarship Portal name the documents required in a set sequence on the application page. If no order is stated, keep the identity proof and the certificate the scheme is based on at the front.
