Convert PDF Pages to JPG or PNG Images at 72 to 300 dpi
Render any page of a PDF as an image, pick the pages and resolution, download one file or a zip

Every page becomes an image. Pick pages, quality and resolution before converting
Rendering happens entirely in your browser and the file is never uploaded anywhere. 150 dpi is the sweet spot for uploading a page as an image; use 300 dpi only if you need to print it, and PNG when the page is mostly thin lines or small text that JPG would soften.
About this tool
Some uploads refuse a PDF. A photo and signature field wants a JPG, a marksheet field on an older state portal accepts images only, or a page of a notification has to be shared in a WhatsApp group as a picture. This tool renders the pages of a PDF as images at a resolution you choose.
Every page shows as a thumbnail. Click the ones you need, or use the quick chips and the range box, pick JPG or PNG, pick the dpi and convert. Each finished page reports its pixel size and file size and can be downloaded on its own; a zip collects all of them.
Rendering is done in your browser with pdf.js and the document is never uploaded. Both text PDFs and scans convert; a text PDF renders sharply at any dpi, while a scan can only be as clear as the original.
How to convert a PDF to JPG
- Drop the PDF onto the tool or click to choose it. All pages are selected to begin with.
- Click a page thumbnail to include or skip it, use the All, None, First, Last, Odd or Even chips, or type a range such as 1-3, 7.
- Choose JPG for small files or PNG for lossless output, and set the JPG quality slider if needed.
- Pick a resolution: 72 dpi for screen use, 150 dpi for uploads, 300 dpi for print.
- Click Convert. Download a single page from its thumbnail, or the zip of all converted pages from the panel below.
Resolution and the size of each image
The image size in pixels is the page size in points multiplied by dpi divided by 72, because a PDF point is 1/72 of an inch. An A4 page is 595.28 x 841.89 pt and a Letter page is 612 x 792 pt.
| Setting | A4 page in pixels | Letter page in pixels | When to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 72 dpi | 595 x 842 | 612 x 792 | Previews, chat sharing, portals that cap images at a few hundred pixels |
| 150 dpi | 1240 x 1754 | 1275 x 1650 | Document uploads; every line of a certificate stays readable and files stay moderate |
| 300 dpi | 2480 x 3508 | 2550 x 3300 | Printing, or cropping a small region such as a photo or signature out of the page later |
JPG or PNG, and the quality slider
JPG is the right choice for an upload. The quality slider runs from 40 to 100 and starts at 90, which is visually indistinguishable from the PDF for a scanned certificate and typically a few hundred KB at 150 dpi. The slider only appears for JPG; PNG has no quality setting because it stores every pixel exactly.
PNG keeps thin rules and tiny text perfectly crisp and is the better choice for a table-heavy page or a diagram, at the cost of files several times larger. Both formats are drawn on a white background, so a page with no background colour comes out on white rather than transparent.
Hypothetical example: a 4-page admit card PDF on A4. Selecting page 1 only, JPG at 90 and 150 dpi, gives one image of 1240 x 1754 pixels named after the file, for example admit-card.jpg. Selecting all four pages gives four images named admit-card-page-1.jpg through admit-card-page-4.jpg inside admit-card-pages.zip, with each page also downloadable from its thumbnail.
Choosing pages
Clicking a thumbnail toggles it, and the range box rewrites itself to describe the current selection in compact form, such as 1-3, 7. Typing in the box works the other way and selects the pages it lists; numbers beyond the last page are ignored. Clearing the box selects every page again.
The chips are shortcuts. First and Last select those single pages, handy when only the cover or the declaration page is needed. Odd and Even pick alternate pages, which helps with a duplex scan where the backs are blank. Only the selected pages are rendered, so one page from a 200-page PDF converts in about a second.
Limits
This renders whole pages and does not crop. A passport photo sitting on a form page comes out as the whole page; convert at 300 dpi and crop the photo in an image editor. Text in the image is pixels, so it cannot be edited or searched afterwards; use the PDF to Word tool when the words are what you need.
A 300 dpi PNG of a large page is a heavy image, tens of MB for a poster-sized sheet, and a long document converted that way can run a phone out of memory. Convert in batches with the range box when that happens. A password-protected PDF cannot be opened; save a copy without the password first.
Thumbnails render in the background one by one. On a long document you can select pages and start converting before every thumbnail has appeared.
Frequently asked questions
›How do I convert just the first page of a PDF to JPG?
Click the First chip, or click None and then the page 1 thumbnail, and press Convert 1 page. The image downloads from the panel as a plain JPG named after the PDF, with no zip, since there is only one file. The Last chip works the same way when the declaration page is at the end.
›What dpi should I choose for uploading a document as an image?
150 dpi. On A4 that gives 1240 x 1754 pixels, which keeps small print readable while a JPG at 90 quality usually stays in the low hundreds of KB. Drop to 72 dpi only if the portal states a maximum pixel size that 150 dpi would exceed, and go to 300 dpi only for printing or for cropping a detail.
›What is the pixel size of an A4 page at 300 dpi?
2480 x 3508 pixels. The figure comes from the A4 page size of 595.28 x 841.89 points multiplied by 300 and divided by 72. The tool shows this width x height on each converted thumbnail and in the Each page card, so you can confirm the exact size against a portal's limits before uploading.
›Can I convert a whole PDF into one long image?
No. Each page becomes a separate image file, and several pages are delivered as a zip with one file per page. Stitching pages into a single tall image is beyond this tool; for sharing a multi-page notice as one picture, convert the pages and combine them in an image editor.
›Why are the JPGs larger than the PDF itself?
A text PDF stores letters as font outlines, which take very little space, while an image has to store every pixel of the page. At 300 dpi an A4 page has 8.7 million pixels, so even a compressed JPG can be bigger than a small PDF. Use 150 dpi and JPG for uploads, and PNG or 300 dpi only when the extra detail is needed.
›Can I convert only the odd or even pages?
Yes. The Odd and Even chips fill the range box with the matching page numbers and select them. This suits a duplex scan where the reverse sides are blank, or a book scan where two different documents alternate. You can then click individual thumbnails to adjust the set before converting.
›Can I get a PNG with a transparent background from a PDF page?
Not here. Pages are painted onto a white canvas before export, so a PNG from this tool has an opaque white background even where the PDF page had none. For a transparent cut-out of a logo or signature, convert at 300 dpi as PNG, then remove the background in an image editor.
