About this tool

An e-admit card from SSC, RRB or a state PSC rarely comes as one page. The hall ticket is followed by two to five pages of instructions, undertakings and sometimes a self-declaration form. A college asking for proof that you appeared, or an employer collecting documents for a background check, wants the hall ticket page and nothing else. Some upload boxes also set a page or size limit that the full download breaks.

This tool deletes the pages you name from a PDF and keeps everything else as it was. Type the page numbers, press the button, download the trimmed copy. The remaining pages keep their size, text and images, and their order does not change.

Nothing is uploaded. The PDF is opened and edited by your browser using the pdf-lib library, so a hall ticket with your roll number and photograph stays on your device the whole time.

How to remove pages from a PDF

  1. Click the upload box or drop the PDF on it. The page count appears underneath.
  2. Open the same PDF in a viewer and note the positions of the pages you want gone.
  3. Type those positions in the Pages to remove box, separated by commas, with a hyphen for a run of pages, for example 2,4-6.
  4. Press Remove pages and wait for the green Ready panel.
  5. Press Download. The file is saved under the original name with -edited added.
  6. Open the download and confirm the right pages went before you upload it anywhere.

How the page list is read

The box accepts plain numbers and hyphenated ranges separated by commas. Numbers refer to the position of a page in the file, counted from 1, and have nothing to do with any number printed on the page. In a report whose cover is unnumbered, the cover is page 1 and the page printed as 1 is page 2.

Anything the tool cannot read is skipped rather than treated as an error. The table shows how typical entries are handled in a file of 20 pages.

Examples of entries in a 20 page file
You typePages removedWhy
33A single number removes that one page
2,52 and 5Commas separate entries
4-64, 5 and 6A hyphen marks a run, both ends included
4 - 64, 5 and 6Spaces around the hyphen are allowed
2,2,4-5,52, 4 and 5Repeats are merged
15-4015 to 20A run is cut off at the last page
0 or 25noneA number outside 1 to 20 is ignored
6-4noneA backwards run matches nothing; write 4-6
p3 or 3;5noneLetters and other separators are not understood

Two checks that stop the job

If the box is empty or none of the entries match a real page, the tool refuses to run and reminds you how many pages the file has. If your entries would delete every page, it also stops, because a PDF needs at least one page to be valid. Leave at least one page in the list of survivors.

There is no undo inside the tool, but the original file on your device is never changed. If you removed the wrong page, choose the original again and type a corrected list.

What removal does and does not do

  • Page numbering shifts. Remove pages 2 and 3 from a 10 page file and the old page 7 becomes page 5. Numbers printed in a footer do not update, so if the document needs a clean sequence, run the result through the Page numbers tool afterwards.
  • The file may not shrink as much as you expect. The tool unlinks the deleted pages from the document, but the saved file can still carry their data inside it, especially fonts and images shared with pages that remain.
  • For the same reason this is not a redaction tool. Do not use it to hide a page that contains sensitive information, because the content may still be recoverable from the file. Use it to trim, not to conceal.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened and show an error. Scanned pages and pages with form fields are removed like any other page.
  • To keep a few pages out of many, the Extract pages tool is quicker to type and produces a smaller file, since it builds a new PDF from only the pages you list.

Editing runs entirely in your browser. The PDF is never uploaded and closing the tab clears it from memory.

Frequently asked questions

›How do I delete a page from a PDF for free without Adobe Acrobat?

Choose the PDF in this tool, type the position of the page in the Pages to remove box, press Remove pages and download the result. No account, software or payment is needed, and the file is edited on your own device. The trimmed copy is a standard PDF that opens in any reader.

›Can I remove the instruction pages from my SSC admit card PDF?

Yes. Open the admit card, find the position of the hall ticket page (usually page 1), then remove the others, for example by typing 2-5 for a 5 page download. Keep the full original for the exam day, since centres and invigilators may expect the complete document with the instructions and undertaking.

›Does removing pages reduce the PDF file size?

Sometimes only a little. The tool detaches the pages from the document structure but does not rebuild the file from scratch, so data belonging to the deleted pages can remain inside. If a smaller upload is the goal, extract the pages you need instead, which writes a fresh PDF containing only those pages.

›What page numbers do I type if the PDF has a cover page?

Count positions in the file, starting from the cover as 1. The numbers printed on the pages are ignored by the tool. A quick way to be sure is to open the PDF in a browser viewer, go to the page you want to delete, and read the position shown in the viewer's page box.

›Why does the tool say that would remove every page?

Your list covers all the pages in the file, often because a range such as 1-50 was typed for a short document, or every page was listed one by one. A PDF must keep at least one page, so the tool stops. Remove one of the entries so that something remains, or use Extract pages if you only want a specific page.

›Will the other pages be changed when I delete some?

The surviving pages keep their content, size and order. Their positions move up to fill the gaps, which is the only change. Bookmarks that pointed at deleted pages may stop working in some readers, and any printed numbering in headers or footers stays as it was on the page.
